These tools and frameworks have been developped along the various research projects (funded or not) that I have led. They are all open-source under GNU GPL or LGPL licences.

COCoNotes (2013-...)

COCoNotes is a set of experimental tools related to video annotation and enrichment in e-education context, developped within the Comin Open Courseware project. COCoNotes Live enables to annotate a lecture or a seminar that is being recorded, COCoNotes (see this example) allows to annotate and share annotation on a recorded lecture or seminar. The COCo platform is due in Fall 2015, it will integrate most of theconcepts of the experimental tools.

Advene: Annotate Digital Video, Echange on the NEt (2002-...)

Advene is both a project, a data model and a tool dedicated to studying video active reading and hypervideos. Advene allows to annotate videos with user-defined schemas, and to create hypervideo views that can be static and dynamic. Advene 1.0 was released late 2011. The Advene2/Cinelab project is now used in various projects (Ligne de temps, Festival Cinecast - Allociné, ACAV - Dailymotion). We also proposed the CHM (Component-Base Hypervideo) model and its web implementation WebCHM.

Funding: At first the project was not funded, but we were able to get financial support with the ANR Cinelab (2007-2009) and FUI Cinecast projects (2010-2012).

VISU: a trace-based tutoring platform (2008-2012)

VISU is a platform for conducting both synchronous and asynchronous tutoring. Synchronous tutoring features the outline and the material of the lesson, visioconference and chat, the possibility to set up markers both for tutors and trainees, as well as a timeline displaying the trace of the session. Asynchronous tutoring is done within the retrospection room that allows both tutors and trainees to navigate their video and interaction traces, and build feedback reports that can be shared. Two versions of Visu have been developped. Visu 2 has got some funding for polishing, security and finding private partnership for its industrialization.

A Framework for Trace-Based Systems (2008-...)

This framework originated in the ITHACA project as an effort to provide generic tools for the all the trace-related projects of the Silex team. This framework is consistent with the modelled traces approach we advocate. It is -for the moment being- composed of two main development branches:

Funding: ANR project ITHACA at the beginning. Other trace-related projects within the Silex team since 2011, eg. Cinecast or D3KODE + part-time engineer from the LIRIS lab on KTBS.

DEScribe : Discrete Experience Sampling (2010-...)

DEScribe is a cross-platform Java open source application for Discrete Experience Sampling, inspired by the method created by Russel T. Hurlburt. It aims at collecting diaries related to en-user experience of desktop applications. It can be parametrized from random to event-based questionning. The development is aperiodic.
