Linguistics: language typology, semantics, morphology and syntax, cognition and interaction; romance and germanic languages, Basque, Breton I am currently elaborating a theoretical model according to which the morphosyntactic data provided by language descriptive typology evidences the way in which a linguistic message is made to be construed by the targeted conscience, whether it be an external receiver’s (a hearer or reader) or one’s own (with the inner thought operating as simulated, unvoiced uttering): to speak is to somatically generate (or to mentally simulate) physical disturbances of the environment whose perception will induce semantic activations and initiate interpretive processes. Languages attached to unrelated types implement a whole range of cognitive protocols including ordering procedures (fixed by syntactic structures), selection procedures (marked by diversely categorized lexical items) and combination procedures (implied by the syntax or marked by grammatical morphemes). |
